Sketchbook Experiments

"a bit blue" by Nancy Mellon
The jafagirls got together to experiment in our sketchbooks. The idea was to rip out an image from a magazine, glue it into the sketchbook and then paint over it, around it, in whatever way took our fancy. Jafabrit's ended up looking (unintentionally) very basquiat like.

Great idea. Painting over magazine image! What great fun!
Recently, in the evenings, have been practicing Chinese watercolor strokes trying to perfect the technique so it can be used on the pottery.
Tried it last night when i glazed a bowl but the brush stroke "perfected" on paper didn't work worth a darn on the bowl.

oh poo, what a shame. Cyntia had a great little tutorial on her blog about transferring images onto her pottery (using lazertran).
