Free Art Fridays
I was delighted to come across a wikipedia entry for free art fridays that led me to a flickr group of the same name. As many of you know I have been leaving art around for quite a few years but it is just recently that the Jafagirls decided to coordinate their efforts in support of the Yellow Springs 3rd Friday Fling in the Springs program. The flickr group has 1,143 members and some very cool art work, so check out their page. Another artist who has made free art her mission is Rosa Muorillo with Found Art Tuesdays and has left some delightful pieces for the public to take home and enjoy. Not forgetting Sharon Vogt who started a website group called Found Art!

vinyl record painting
The jafagirls are working away on art for the doll show at the Emproium in June and this is one of them (work in progress) by moi, Corrine Bayraktaroglu aka Jafabrit. It is painted on an old vinyl record coated with gesso, acrylic undercoat, and then oil paint.
It is based on a little souvenir doll I got at the age of 10 from a relative who had traveled abroad.
UPDATE:To see a slide show please visit Jafagirls: No Ordinary Dolls

The Knit has lost its Knot
Alas it had to happen? The Tree Sweater was removed from the Knit Knot Tree on the last Sunday in April. We left a little band and a few pockets for people to enjoy.
All is not lost though, the yarn has found a new home on the "dark side" (Dayton Street) of Yellow Springs in the shape of "textile totems" adorning the street.
